Union, N.J. (10/19/19) – The Kean University women's soccer team used three first half goals to stand up as the Cougars topped William Paterson University on Senior Day, 3-2.
Sophomore Mariaelena Torres had a hand in each tally today scoring two and assisting on another.
Torres scored just three minutes into the action. A penalty kick goal from Lorraine Moffitt at 11:04 tied things up and the score would remain that way for the next 25 minutes. Kean then took the lead for good with Torres' second goal of the night, assisted by senior Deana Abdou. The two traded roles just six minutes later when Abdou registered her fourth goal of the season, a 20 yard strike off a pass from Torres.
The Pioneers (5-7-2, 1-4-1 NJAC) edged closer with a goal from Kristin Bowe in the final 10 minutes, but that would be as close as they would get.
Keeper Marissa Cook collected eight saves on the day.
The Cougars have their last non-conference game of the year on Wednesday when they travel to Brooklyn College.
