GALLOWAY, N.J. (10/5/19)- Rachel Mills tallied a goal and assist as the No. 18 Kean University field hockey team extended their winning streak to 12 games with a 3-0 shutout victory over Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.
Erin Donnelly and
Melissa Way each notched a goal for the No. 18 Cougars who improve to 12-1 overall and 1-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Emily Gilligan made nine saves for the Ospreys who fall to 10-1 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
Kean scored two goals during a four-minute span of the second quarter to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime. Mills collected the first goal of the afternoon, as she tapped in a
Jenna Patrone feed by the left post in the 20
th minute. Mills assisted on the next goal as Donnelly blasted a shot off an insert from the senior in the 24
th minute.
The Cougars added another one in the second half when Way scored her 17
th goal of the season with a backhanded shot from the middle of the arc.
Kean led on shots (17-9) and penalty corners (16-7). Patrone finished with a team-high five shots, while Way recorded four and Mills tallied three.
Belly Reynoso made four saves in 60 minutes of work and improves to 12-1 in goal.
The victory also snapped Stockton's 10 game winning streak to start the season.
