UNION, N.J. (10/8/19) – Peyton Mann tallied a goal and assist as the No. 16 Kean University field hockey team extended their winning streak to 13 games with a 3-0 shutout victory over No. 18 Montclair State University on Tuesday evening.
Lia DiPiazza and
Melissa Way each notched a goal for the No. 16 Cougars who improve to 13-1 overall and 2-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Nicole Andriani made 14 saves for the Red Hawks who fall to 8-4 overall and 0-1 in the NJAC.
Kean was aggressive from the opening whistle after scoring two goals in the second quarter to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Mann collected all three points in the second stanza by assisting on the DiPiazza goal in the 22
nd minute and scoring off a goalkeeper rebound in the 25
th minute.
The Cougars added an insurance goal in the 45
th minute when Way tallied her 18
th goal of the season on a breakaway feed from
Ja'Carra Jackson.
Kean dominated on shots (23-5) and penalty corners (12-2). Way totaled a game-high six shots, while
Erin Donnelly tallied five and DiPiazza recorded four.
Belly Reynoso made three saves in 60 minutes of work and improves to 13-1 in goal.
