Glassboro, N.J. (10/5/19) – The Kean University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Rowan University on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
Keeper Marissa Cook recorded 15 saves on the day to preserve the tie as Kean's record now stands at 4-6-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the NJAC. The Profs have almost an identical record at 4-5-1 and 1-2-1.
The Cougars struck first as Mariaelena Torres sent a cross from the right side that Lexy Monroy headed to the left for a quick 1-0 eight minutes in.
Just as the first half was concluding, Rowan tied things up as Daria Jones sent a low cross to Kalin Priest who finished it into the top right corner of the net.
Both teams had chances down the stretch with the Profs adding 15 shots in the second half while the Cougars collected four corner opportunities in the same stretch. Kean had three shot attempts in the first overtime period while the Profs countered with four in the final 10 minutes, but neither team was able to capitalize, earning the draw.
Kean returns home to face Manhattanville College in non-conference action on Wednesday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m.
