Albright Pulls Away from Women's Basketball

Union, N.J. (11/16/19) – Albright College used a strong second half surge to pull past the Kean University women's basketball team in the Kean Classic Championship by the final of 78-64 on Saturday afternoon.

Payce Lange was named to the All-Tournament team after pacing the Cougars (1-1) with a team-high 17 points along with five rebounds on the afternoon.

Gabby Boggs earned Most Valuable Player honors for Albright (4-0) as she played all 40 minutes with a double-double 17 points and 18 rebounds in the win.

It was a see-saw battle the entire first half with neither team able to take a comfortable lead.  Trailing seven (27-20) with three minutes to go in the second quarter, Kean put together a 9-0 run to close out the half, all on points from Lange.

It was a back-and-forth affair again in the third quarter, but the Lions were able to take the lead for good on two points from the charity stripe from Brady Wassel (41-40).  Kean battled and pulled within two early in the fourth quarter on a trey from DarRique Smith but it wasn't enough as Albright pushed the advantage out to double-digits for the first time all afternoon, holding on for the win.

Dejah Terell was named to the All-Tournament team after scoring a double-double 19 points and 10 rebounds.  Wassel finished with 14 points and eight boards.

The Cougars enjoy a short break and will host Brooklyn College on Friday evening at 6 p.m.
