GLENSIDE, Pa. (11/17/19) – Max Acosta tallied the game-winner in the 80
th minute to lift the Kean University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over host Arcadia University in the ECAC Quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
Calvin Carbajal assisted on the game-winner for the Cougars who improve to 11-7-3 overall and advance to face the top overall seed in Stevenson University next Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
Jake Varrato made seven saves for the Knights who finish their season at 10-10-2 overall.
After a scoreless first half in which Kean led on shots 7-1, the Cougars finally found the back of the net when Acosta notched his ninth goal of the season with a feed from Carbajal in the 80
th minute.
The Cougars finished the match edging the Knights 14-4 on shots, including 8-1 on frame, and 4-2 on corner kicks.
Felipe Lucas recorded six shots, while Carbajal and Acosta tallied two.
Alex Nicol,
Patryk Kowal,
Brandon Grine, and
Jake Santos all posted one shot apiece.
Dillon Konzelmann made one saves in 90 minutes of work.
