GLASSBORO, N.J. (11/2/19) - The Kean University men's soccer team were eliminated by Rowan University, 2-1 in double overtime, in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday evening.
Kevin Primich scored the game-winner in the 102
nd minute for the Profs who improve to 10-4-3 overall and advance to Wednesday's semifinal against Ramapo.
Felipe Lucas tallied the lone goal for the Cougars who finish their season at 9-7-3 overall.
Lucas gave Kean the 1-0 lead in the 18
th minute as the sophomore stole the ball from the regaining NJAC Defensive Player of the Year
Modou Sowe, dribbled in all alone with the keeper and finished with a high shot.
The Profs eventually evened everything at 1-1 on a penalty kick in the 53
rd minute, before tallying the golden goal in double overtime.
Rowan edged Kean on shots (19-11) and corners kicks (6-1). The Cougars were called for 24 fouls and had five cards issued, including one straight red.
Max Acosta recorded a team-high four shots, while Lucas and
Alex Nicol tallied three shots apiece.
Dillon Konzelmann made nine saves in the loss for the Cougars.
