Camden, N.J. (12/14/19) – The Kean University women's basketball team cruised to their sixth straight win as they defeated Rutgers-Camden by the final of 77-48 on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Cougars remained undefeated in NJAC play (5-0) and now enjoy a short break from conference action before resuming January 8, 2020.
Leading the way in today's action were Casey Filiault, Shannon McCoy and Payce Lange who combined for 55 of Kean's 77 points on the day.
The Scarlet Raptors (5-4, 0-4 NJAC) briefly took a one point lead in the first three minutes of action, but Filiault's trey shortly after gave Kean the lead for good. Filiault scored the first eight points for the Cougars.
Kean used a 12-0 run spanning the first and second quarters to push out to a double-digit advantage, and held on to that double-digit for the remainder of the contest.
Filiault finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds while McCoy tied her for a game-best in points while adding four rebounds and two steals. Lange contributed 15 points, six steals and five rebounds. Rookie Danielle Mills had 10 points and six rebounds.
The Cougars head to Cabrini University on Friday for a non-conference afternoon matinee.
