Salem, Va. (12/30/19) – The Kean University women's basketball team got back on the winning track with a 71-56 win over The College of Wooster in the consolation matchup of the Susan Dunagan Holiday Classic.
Graduate student Cindy Foresta was named to the All-Tournament team after pouring in a double-double 12 points and 19 rebounds along with six assists and five steals.
Tied midway through the first quarter (8-8) the Cougars rolled off 10 straight points to take the lead for good in the contest. Emily Dominguez and Shannon McCoy each had treys in the spurt. Kean (8-3) pushed the advantage out to double-digits for the first time halfway through the second quarter as Foresta registered five points in a 7-0 run. The Cougars went into the break up, 36-31.
Kean then paced the second half, pushing the lead out to as many as 15 on two occasions, including the final.
McCoy finished with a game-high 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals while Payce Lange and Dominguez finished with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Today's game marks the final on the 2019 calendar as Kean will resume play with their final non-conference matchup on Friday at Lehman College.
