NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (8/30/19) – Bryan Blandon notched the game-winner and just his second career goal as the Kean University men's soccer team opened the 2019 season with a 1-0 victory over Whitman College at the Steve Shaw Classic hosted by Christopher Newport University.

Joaovictor Lebrao assisted on Blandon's game-winner as the Cougars improve to 1-0 overall. Oscar Harding took four shots for the Blues who fall to 0-1 overall.

After a tight and scoreless first half, which saw both sides attempt six shots apiece, Kean broke through in the 57^th minute after Blandon touched the ball pasted the keeper coming off a Lebrao header.

Dillon Konzelmann made his first start in net for the Cougars and finished with four saves, including a key stop in the 82^nd minute to preserve Head Coach Peter-John Falloon 94^th career victory.

Felipe Lucas tallied three shots, while Ayodele Oladokun, Matthew Almeida, and Max Acosta all attempted two shots apiece.

Coach Falloon and the Cougars will return to action tomorrow, Saturday Aug. 31^st, in Newport News, Va. against the Pride of Greensboro College at 5:00 p.m.
