HILLSIDE, N.J. (9/16/19) – A goal in each half lifted the Kean University men's soccer team to their second straight victory with a 2-0 shutout of Brooklyn College at the East Campus Field on Monday afternoon.
Alex Nicol and
Fanor Arango each notched a goal for the Cougars who improve to 5-2 overall.
Menelik Kaza-Amlak and
Alex Sosa both tallied a shot for the Bulldogs who remain winless at 0-4 overall.
Nicol got Kean on the scoreboard in the 9
th minute, with his first career goal as a Cougar, after receiving a quick feed from
Nick Kovach and ripped it past the keeper for the 1-0 advantage.
Kean held Brooklyn shot less for the first half and were still held shot less, when Arango scored off a deflected ball in the box for the 2-0 lead in the 69
th minute.
The Bulldogs wouldn't record a shot until the 77
th minute, as a ball clanked off the crossbar from a free kick situation
Kean dominated on shots, 34-2, including 14-1 on goal and the Cougars held the advantage in corner kicks, 4-0. Nicol tallied a game-high eight shots, while Kovach took six and Arango recorded three.
