CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (9/17/19) – Three Cougars scored a goal as the Kean University field hockey team extended their winning streak to seven games with a 3-0 shutout victory over DeSales University on Tuesday evening.
Melissa Way,
Rachel Mills and
Erin Donnelly all notched goals for the Cougars who improve to 7-1 overall.
Tyra Wingle and
Madison Brader both recorded two shots apiece for the Bulldogs who fall to 3-4 overall.
Kean scored first as Way notched her fourth straight game-winning goal with a backhanded shot from five yards out after dodging a defender for the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute. The Cougars scored again in the 51st minute when Mills tapped the ball past the goalkeeper after a blocked shot for the 2-0 advantage. Kean's final score saw Donnelly notch her third career goal off a
Lia DiPiazza feed during a penalty corner situation in the 53rd minute.
The Cougars dominated the Bulldogs on shots (26-5); including 16-3 on goal, while holding the advantage on penalty corners (9-7). Mills recorded a game-high five shots, while
Ja'Carra Jackson, Way and
Peyton Mann all tallied four shots apiece.
Belly Reynoso made one save in 60 minutes of work and improved to 7-1 in the cage.
