Union, N.J. (9/24/19) – Senior Brianna Calvano collected career assist #3000 as the Kean University women's volleyball team swept visiting William Paterson University in straight sets in NJAC action on Tuesday evening.
Calvano becomes the fifth player in program history to eclipse the 3,000 mark as she collected 36 assists on the night, needing 29 to hit the mark. She picked up assist #3000 late in the second set as the Cougars spread the advantage to 11 points (22-11). On the night she also added nine digs and two assisted blocks.
Teammate Zoe Strozewski led all players with 20 kills while hitting .702. She added five assisted blocks for a total of 22.5 points in the win.
Alyson Toman registered eight kills for the Pioneers (7-5, 0-1 NJAC).
Kean (11-6, 2-0 NJAC) held WP to negative or zero attacking in each set and the Cougars trailed in just one set throughout the evening.
Senior Jesse Larkin finished with nine kills, four digs and three assisted blocks for Kean.
The Cougars continue NJAC action on Thursday when they host New Jersey City University at 7 p.m.
