UNION, N.J. (1/15/20) – Four players scored in double figures as the Kean University men's basketball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest to Rowan University, 106-80 on Wednesday evening.
Maliq Sanders totaled 25 points and made six three pointers for the Profs who improve to 7-8 overall and 3-5 in the NJAC.
Jailen Jamison finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Cougars who fall to 4-11 overall and 1-7 in the NJAC.
After trading baskets with Rowan for the first five minutes, Kean used an 8-2 run to take a 18-13 lead with 12:54 remaining on buckets by
Nate Lyles,
Myles Owens and Jamison. Rowan countered with a 15-7 run to regain the lead at 28-23.
The Cougars hung around for another minute before the Profs closed out the opening stanza on a 23-10 run to hold the 51-38 advantage at halftime. Rowan made 14 triples and shot 56.0% from downtown in the first half.
The halftime lead proved too much to overcome as Rowan extended their advantage to 20 and as large as 26 before the final horn sounded
Kendall Blount totaled 13 points, while
Jeff Cooper tallied 13 points and
Jared Latane finished with 14 points and five assists.
