UNION, N.J (10/19/21) – Jordan Thompson scored two first half goals as the Kean University field hockey  team shutout Montclair State University, 2-0 on Tuesday evening.

Thompson and Lia DiPiazza both tallied seven shots apiece for the #5 Cougars who improve to 15-1 overall and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Lauren Pickul made 10 saves for the Red Hawks who fall to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC.

Thompson notched both goals in the second quarter, which gave Kean a 2-0 halftime advantage. She tallied her first goal in the 17^th minute after dribbling a loose ball into the circle and blasting it home. The second goal came in the 28^th minute when she scored off an initial goalkeeper save by lifting it over the stretched out keeper.

Kean dominated MSU on shots (20-3), shots on goal (15-1) and penalty corners (11-2).

Jenna Flemings improved to 13-1 in goal with one save in 60 minutes of work.

Head Coach Leslie LaFronz and the Cougars will return to action on Saturday Oct. 23^rd, hosting the Pioneers of William Paterson University at 5:00 p.m.
