UNION, N.J (10/19/21) – Jordan Thompson scored two first half goals as the Kean University field hockey team shutout Montclair State University, 2-0 on Tuesday evening.
Thompson and
Lia DiPiazza both tallied seven shots apiece for the #5 Cougars who improve to 15-1 overall and 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference.
Lauren Pickul made 10 saves for the Red Hawks who fall to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC.
Thompson notched both goals in the second quarter, which gave Kean a 2-0 halftime advantage. She tallied her first goal in the 17
th minute after dribbling a loose ball into the circle and blasting it home. The second goal came in the 28
th minute when she scored off an initial goalkeeper save by lifting it over the stretched out keeper.
Kean dominated MSU on shots (20-3), shots on goal (15-1) and penalty corners (11-2).
Jenna Flemings improved to 13-1 in goal with one save in 60 minutes of work.
