CAMDEN, N.J. (10/19/21) – Anne Beckemeyer tied the single game record for total blocks with 12 and added 10 kills as the Kean University women's volleyball team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 3-1 in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday evening.
Ashley Smith and
Kayla Thornton combined for 24 kills as the Cougars improve to 12-9 overall and 5-2 in the NJAC.
Kaliyah Moss finished with a double-double of 13 kills and 10 digs for the Scarlet Raptors who fall to 14-8 overall and 3-4 in the NJAC.
Beckemeyer's 12 block performance ties with
Kaitlyn Hansen,
Loretta Zahn and
Sara Ridgway. Hansen posted 12 blocks in a 3-2 victory over Westminster (Mo.) on Sept. 1
st, 2012. Zahn tallied 12 blocks in a 3-1 victory over RIT on Sept. 29
th, 1995. Ridgway collected 12 blocks in a 3-2 victory over Stockton on Nov. 4
th, 2017.
As a team, Kean finished with 17 blocks for match.
Thornton totaled 12 kills and posted a .429 hitting percentage, while Smith finished with 12 kills and a .265 hitting percentage.
Taylor Micheaux tallied nine kills and a .381 hitting percentage, while
Kylie Brua totaled 41 assists, nine digs and four kills.
On Defense,
Amanda DeLio collected 15 digs.
For the match, Kean totaled 49 kills and 15 errors on 122 swings for a .279 hitting percentage, while Camden totaled 39 kills and 33 errors on 134 swings for a .045 hitting percentage.
