SCRANTON, Pa. (10/2/21) – Jordan Thompson finished with five points on two goals and one assist as the #4 Kean University field hockey team tied the program record for the longest winning streak at 17 games in the 6-1 victory over Marywood University on Saturday afternoon.
Peyton Mann scored and assisted on a goal for the Cougars who improve to 12-0 overall. Lauren Youngken scored for the Pacers who fall to 6-4 overall.
The Cougars opened the contest quickly with three goals in the first 10 minutes.
Morgan Stump scored in the second minute with a goal off of a saved ball from about 10 yards out to the left post. Mann scored in the seventh minute with a breakaway goal off an assist from Thompson.
Jorja Hibschman capped off the first quarter scoring in the 10
th minute with a goal during a scramble in front of the cage.
Thompson notched both of her goal's during the second quarter, scoring in the 17
th and 28
th minutes. The first goal came when she chipped a hard hit shot from 15 yards away off a Mann pass. The second goal came when she lifted the ball from 12 yards away in the upper left corner. Kean held a commanding 5-1 lead at halftime.
The Cougars capped off their scoring in the second half when
Natalya Morin tallied a goal in the 42
nd minute. Morin deflected a
Ja'Carra Jackson pass into the base of the goal.
Kean edged Marywood on shots (16-7) and shots on goal (12-2), while the Pacers held the advantage on corners (10-7).
Belly Reynoso and
Jenna Flemings combined for a save in 60 minutes of work.
