EWING, N.J. (10/23/21) – Matt O'Shea scored a goal in the 102
nd minute which propelled the Kean University men's soccer team to a 2-1 double overtime victory over the College of New Jersey in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday evening.
Erick Chicas notched the other goal for the Cougars who improve to 10-4-1 overall and 5-3 in the NJAC. Ryan Santos scored for the Lions who fall to 8-8-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the NJAC.
After a scoreless first half, Kean got on the scoreboard with a Chicas goal in the 47
th minute. A long cross into the box bounced off a TCNJ defender and the junior flicked the ball past the keeper for the 1-0 lead. After the Lions evened the contest at 1-1 in the 55
th minute, Kean would collect the game-winner in the 102
nd minute of extra time. The Cougars played the ball over the top and a TCNJ defender cleared it back towards O'Shea who scored just outside the 18-yard box.
Kean led on shots (17-12), shots on goal (9-8) and corner kicks (8-1).
Sadeiki Roberts and
Nico Ibanez both tallied three shots apiece.
Dominic Ridge made seven saves in 90 minutes of work.
