GLASSBORO, N.J. (11/4/21) – Three Cougars tallied double digit kills as the fourth seed Kean University women's volleyball team bowed out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament with a 3-1 loss to top seed Rowan University on Thursday evening.
Natalie Ogden posted a double-double with 27 kills and 16 digs for the Profs who improve to 26-5 overall and advance to the NJAC finals against Montclair State University on Saturday.
Ashley Smith totaled a team-high 13 kills for the Cougars who fall to 16-12 overall.
After dropping the opening set, Kean captured the second set, 26-24. The Cougars posted a .250 hitting percentage, while holding the Profs to a .111 percentage in the victory.
Kean trailed by four early, but crawled it's way back to tie everything at 22 apiece on back-to-back kills by
Anne Beckemeyer. After trading points, the Cougars earned the final two points of the set with a Profs attack error and a
Sedona Gaard ace.
The Profs took the final two sets by close scores to advance in the NJAC Tournament.
Beckemeyer totaled 10 kills and six block assists, while
Kayla Thornton tallied 12 kills and four digs.
Morgan Hall finished with seven kills and six block assists, while
Taylor Micheaux totaled eight kills and five digs.
Kylie Bura recorded 37 assists, eight digs and three aces.
On defense, Gaard collected 18 digs, while
Amanda DeLio posted 16.
