Marymount, Va. (11/8/21) – The Kean University women's basketball team suffered their second loss of the season to host Marymount University by the final of 67-47 on Monday evening.
After a see-saw affair to start the game, the Saints (1-0) pulled out to a double-digit lead in the second quarter and used a late surge to score the stanza's final seven points to lead at the break 33-20.
Kean (0-2) kept pace to start the second half but points from the charity stripe in the waning minutes of the third quarter pushed the Marymount advantage to 21.
The Saints then coasted down the stretch to come away with a season opening win.
Kean was led by Brittany Graff who registered 14 points in 23 minutes with three steals. Aniyah Moore collected eight rebounds to go along with four points and two blocks.
Marymount's Katie McShea had a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She added five assists.
The Cougars return home for tournament action this weekend when they host Baruch College on Friday at 7 p.m.
