Montclair, N.J. (2/13/21) – Steady scoring gave the Montclair State University men's basketball team a 76-61 win over Kean University on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams split the season series after Kean won their first contest of the young season on Friday evening.
Kean (1-3, 1-3 NJAC) got off on the right foot as they stormed out of the gate to take an 18-9 lead. MSU (3-1, 3-1 NJAC) called a timeout and adjusted as they quickly jumped to a 23-18 lead off a 14-0 run. The Red Hawks would not relinquish the lead as they headed into the halftime break with a 35-29 advantage.
Montclair grew their lead to as many as 21 at 66-45, but the Cougars clawed back with a 14-5 spurt that brought the deficit down to 12, but that would be as close as Kean would get down the stretch.
The Cougars were led by Jalien Jamison and Nate Lyles who added 14 points apiece.
Kean heads to Ewing, N.J. on Friday, February 19th when they take on The College of New Jersey.
