UNION, N.J. (4/14/21) – Thomas Francy finished with 16 saves as the Kean University men's lacrosse team dropped a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest to Stockton University, 17-6 on Wednesday evening.
Joey Tiernan totaled 10 points on six goals and four assists for the Ospreys who improve to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the CSAC.
Connor Batjer totaled three points on two goals and one assist for the Cougars who fall to 4-1 overall and 2-1 in the CSAC.
Stockton opened the battle for first place with three unanswered goals to take a 3-0 lead. Batjer and
George Capria tallied the first two Cougar goals as Kean trailed 5-2 after 15 minutes of play.
Brady Moore,
Kyle Ryder and Batjer all scored in the second quarter as the Ospreys maintained a three goal cushion at 8-5 with just over three minutes before halftime.
Stockton scored three more to end the half and two in the third quarter to extend the Ospreys advantage to 13-5 entering the final quarter.
Dante Magliano broke the Ospreys run with a Batjer assisted goal to start the final frame and the Cougars trailed 13-6.
Stockton finished the contest adding four more goals to their tally for the evening.
On faceoffs,
Max Stevens finished 13-for-18 with nine groundballs.
On defense,
Matt Palmieri totaled four groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Gregory Castor, Moore and
Steven Thorne all collected two groundballs apiece.
