Union, N.J. (4/15/21) – The Kean University department of athletics has opened its nomination process for the Benisch Athletic Hall of Fame to the public. The Hall of Fame was established in 1981 to honor the men and women who have brought distinction both to themselves and to the University through their participation in Kean Athletics.
Since the 10-person Charter Class of '81, a total of 137 members of the Kean community have been enshrined in the Hall of Fame. The 2021 class is slated to be inducted in the fall.
The nomination process for this year's class will close April 30th.
To be considered for induction into the Kean University Benisch Athletic Hall of Fame, candidates:
1. Must have been graduated for a period of at least five years;
2. Must have participated in intercollegiate athletics;
3. Must have embodied the highest ideals of amateur athletic competition;
4. Must have, in the course of their collegiate athletic careers, distinguished themselves so conspicuously as to set them apart from their contemporaries;
5. Must have made a significant and lasting contribution to the University's athletic program through service, leadership, or professional achievement.
(Alumni or non-alumni may be selected for the Hall of Fame if they have made a significant and lasting contribution to the Kean University athletics program through service, leadership or professional achievement. The contribution must be of such magnitude that it clearly sets the person apart from his/her peers).
