Women's Lacrosse Breezes by Rutgers-Camden in NJAC Opener

Camden, N.J. (4/3/21) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team got the NJAC season off on the right foot with a 20-5 win over Rutgers-Camden on Saturday afternoon.

Dana Meehan led all players with five goals as 11 players got in on the scoring on the day.

Meehan scored the game's first goal less than a minute into the contest and Maddy Leigh added two more for a quick 3-0 lead.  The Cougars would score 14 straight to open the game.

Rutgers-Camden was outshot, 18-1, in the opening half, with the one shot producing a goal by Jazmin Torres with 13 seconds remaining in the half.

Maddy Varellie finished with three goals while Leigh and fellow midfielders Rosalee Lachner and Katie Pileggi added two goals apiece. Senior Amanda Ehrhart collected three assists, while also adding one goal.

Kean finished with a 29-7 advantage in shots, with freshman goalie Morgan Harris making one save to earn her first collegiate win.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday when they face Montclair State in a rescheduled non-conference matchup.
