Union, N.J. (4/6/21) – The Kean University women's lacrosse team fell to #23 Montclair State University by the final of 14-5 on Tuesday afternoon in a rescheduled non-conference matchup.
The Red Hawks improved to 3-0 overall while Kean fell to 1-4 on the season.
MSU jumped on top with two quick goals less than a minute apart. Kean answered with two of their own from Dana Meehan to knot the game up with 11 minutes to go in the first half.
That unfortunately would be as close as the Cougars would get as the Red Hawks rolled off the next eight goals spanning intermission to jump out to a 10-2 lead they would not relinquish.
Meehan led the Cougars with three goals on the afternoon. Emily Bretschneider added one assist, three draw controls, two caused turnovers and two groundballs in the all-around effort.
Megan Mahlstadit led all scorers with five goals along with three assists. Brittany Costigan recorded nine draw controls while scoring two goals in the win.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Saturday when they host Stockton University at 1 p.m.
