UNION, N.J. (9/11/21) – The Kean University women's volleyball team dropped non-conference matches to SUNY Cortland and New York University by identical 3-1 scores in a tri-match on Saturday.
SUNY Cortland 3, Kean 1
Ashley Smith totaled 18 kills and two aces, while
Kayla Thornton tallied 13 kills in the 3-1 loss to the Red Dragons (5-1).
Kylie Bura handed out 36 assists and
Amanda DeLio collected 20 digs as the Cougars (2-3) captured the opening set, before ultimately surrendering the final three sets.
Brua added 12 digs, while
Sedona Gaard finished with 15.
NYU 3, Kean 1
Thornton totaled 10 kills, while Smith added seven kills in a 3-1 loss to the Violets (6-0). Brua handed out 21 assists and Gaard collected nine digs as the Cougars (2-4) captured the opening set, before ultimately surrendering the final three sets.
Brua added four aces and two blocks.
