Union, N.J. (9/29/21) – Montclair State University used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the Kean University women's soccer team, 5-0, on Wednesday evening in NJAC action.
The win improves the Red Hawks to 3-0 in conference play and 7-2 overall this season. The loss drops Kean to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NJAC.
MSU got things going with a goal just over nine minutes into the action as Aileen Cahill put back her own rebound for the game's first goal. Kimberly Campbell made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute off a pass from Lauren Ernst.
The Red Hawks then put the game away early in the second half with two quick goals. Zoe Steck scored less than a minute into period with an assist from Sofia Ambrosio and Steck assisted on the next goal four minutes later with Samantha Howard finding the net for a 4-0 lead. Renee Rocha rounded out the scoring at 76:52 off a helper from Lindsay Bathmann.
Haley Martin and Lindsay Freewalt combined for the shutout for MSU with five total saves. Marissa Cook stopped 10 shots for Kean.
The Cougars remain home and will face Stockton University on Saturday afternoon.
