ANNVILLE, Pa. (9/30/21) – Four unanswered goals, including three in the second half, helped the #4 Kean University field hockey team extended its winning streak to 16 games and remain unbeaten with a 5-1 victory over Lebanon Valley College on Thursday evening.
Jorja Hibschman scored twice for the Cougars who remain unbeaten at 11-0 overall.
Danielle Alba notched the lone goal for the Dutchman who fall to 2-7 overall.
Hibschman tallied both goals of the opening quarter as Kean maintained a 2-1 lead after 15 minutes of action. Hibschman notched the Cougars first goal in the fifth minute, when she collected a
Maddison Gonzales pass from the right side and scored between the keeper's legs.
LVC would respond with a goal in the 14
th minute, before Kean closed out the quarter with Hibschman taping in a
Lia DiPiazza shot nearly 30 seconds after the Dutchman's goal. The contest remained 2-1 at the break
In the second half, Kean added three insurance goals from
Krista O'Grady,
Jordan Thompson and
Peyton Mann. The Cougars increased their lead to 3-1 in the 34
th minute as O'Grady tapped in a Thompson shot. Thompson made it 4-1 before the end of the quarter as the grad student corralled a pass by Jackson and fired it home.
Mann capped off the scoring with a goal in the 47
th minute as the junior scored from the middle of the box.
Kean dominated Lebanon Valley on shots (22-3), shots on goal (17-3) and penalty corners (13-1).
Jenna Flemings and
Belly Reynoso combined for two saves over 60 minutes.
