SELINSGROVE, Pa. (9/5/21) – Two early first half goals by
Peyton Mann lifted the #10 Kean University field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over #14 Christopher Newport University at the Connie Harnum Classic hosted by Susquehanna University.
Lia DiPiazza and
Megan Keeney both assisted on Mann's goals as the Cougars improve to 2-0 overall.
Emma Logue tallied the lone goal for the Captains who fall to 1-2 overall.
Mann notched two goals in the first eight minutes as Kean took a commanding 2-0 lead. DiPiazza connected with Mann in the fourth minute and knocked home a Keeney pass in the eighth minute. CNU finally got on the board when Logue tallied a goal in the 26
th minute.
The Cougar defense held the Captains to just four shots, including three on goal and one in the second half. Kean edged CNU on penalty corners as well, 14-4.
Jordan Thompson tallied five shots, while Mann recorded four.
Jenna Flemings improved to 2-0 in the cage after making two saves in 60 minutes of work.
