MAHWAH, N.J. (10/18/22) – Three first-half goals vaulted the #11 Kean University field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Ramapo College on Tuesday afternoon.
Peyton Mann,
Morgan Stump, and
Kelsey Corbett all scored for the Cougars who improve to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. Allison Tanasy tallied a goal
for the Roadrunners who fall to 10-4 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC.
Kean struck early as Mann drove through the top of the circle for the 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
The Cougars added two more in the second when Stump scored on a penalty stroke in the 24
th minute and Corbett scored on a crossed-in ball from
Ja'Carra Jackson in the 28
th minute. Kean maintained a 3-0 lead at halftime.
After Ramapo scored on a shovel pass in the third quarter, the Cougars added an insurance goal in the 58
th minute when Corbett scored over the goalie along the right side after a Stump pass.
Kean led on shots (24-13), shots on goal (18-7) and corners (22-8). Mann posted 11 shots, while Jackson recorded four.
Jenna Flemings and
Belly Reynoso combined six saves in 60 minutes of work.
