MONTCLAIR, N.J. (10/4/22) – Three second half goals rallied the #6 Kean University field hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Montclair State University in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Tuesday evening.
Maddison Gonzales tallied the game-winner for the Cougars who improve to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC. Gab Maisto recorded two goals for the Red Hawks who fall to 6-5 overall and 1-1 in the NJAC.
MSU scored twice in the first half and held a commanding 2-0 lead at halftime. Kean rallied in the third quarter with two goals to even the contest at 2-2 entering the fourth. The first goal came when
Ja'Carra Jackson tapped in a
Morgan Stump shot in the 32nd minute.
Peyton Mann found the equalizer with an unassisted goal in the 37
th minute.
The Cougars notched the game-winner in the fourth when Gonzales tapped in a
Laura Stump shot in the 47
th minute.
Kean led on shots (13-10), shots on goal (9-8), and penalty corners (14-8).
Mann tallied five shots, while Gonzales collected three.
Jenna Flemings made four saves in 60 minutes of work.
