RIVERDALE, N.Y. (10/7/22) – Ashley Smith totaled nine kills and posted a .471 hitting percentage as the Kean University women's volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 straight sets sweep of the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Friday evening.
Anne Beckemeyer tallied eight kills and posted a .462 hitting percentage for the Cougars who improve to 10-7 overall. Melanieann Broderick finished with eight kills for the Dolphins who fall to 3-9 overall.
Kean was sufficient all match as the Cougars posted a .366 hitting percentage. On the other side, CMSV couldn't get their hitting percentage into the positive range.
Beckemeyer and
Taylor Micheaux combined for six kills on 12 swings in the 25-10 set one victory. Kean led by two early, before a 10-1 run broke everything open. Smith served for six straight points during the run.
Beckemeyer and Smith combined for eight kills on 14 swings in the 25-15 set two victory. The Cougars trailed 11-8, before closing the set on a 16-3 run.
Smith,
Aubre Adams and
Bella Stem all tallied three kills apiece for the Cougars in the 25-16 set three victory. Kean opened on an 11-4 run, which included a kill and an ace from Smith. The Cougars extended their lead to 23-8, before CMSV got eight points back late.
Micheaux and Adams both tallied five kills apiece, while Stem totaled three kills.
Aspen O'Brien handed out 24 assists, while Smith and
Sian Seeger each collected six digs apiece.
