UNION, N.J. (11/1/22) – Ashley Smith finished with 15 kills and seven digs as the third-seeded Kean University women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 victory over sixth-seeded Ramapo College in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament first round on Tuesday evening.
Taylor Micheaux totaled 11 kills for the Cougars who improve to 17-12 overall and advance to face second-seeded Stockton University in the NJAC semifinals on Thursday. Stephanie Ross finished with 10 digs and seven kills for the Roadrunners who finish their season at 10-10 overall.
Smith and Micheaux combined for 12 kills over the first two sets as Kean blitzed their way to easy 25-14 and 25-7 victories. The Cougars hit over .400 in both decisions, including a .500 percentage in the set two victory.
Ramapo responded with just two errors to capture set three, 25-21.
The Cougars put away the match in set four with a dominating .483 hitting percentage for the 25-13 victory. Smith tallied six kills, while Micheaux added five, and
Anne Beckemeyer posted three.
Beckemeyer totaled nine kills and posted a .500 hitting percentage, while
Alison Kowalewski tallied six and
Morgan Hall finished with five.
Aspen O'Brien posted a career-high 45 assists and
Sian Seeger collected 18 digs.
