Mahwah, N.J. (11/30/22) – The Kean University women's basketball team suffered a 72-68 setback to Ramapo College on Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Cougars took their largest lead of the day with 5:06 to go in the first quarter as Brittany Graff had a fastbreak layup off a steal to put Kean on top 11-6.
The Roadrunners (6-0, 2-0 NJAC) then surged to take the lead for good with a 13-0 run to end the quarter.
Ramapo pushed out to their largest lead in the third quarter (40-25) but the Cougars chipped away and closed the deficit to just three (63-60) with 3:40 to go in the contest as Shannon McCoy hit two free throws. But the Roadrunners were able to win the seesaw battle down the stretch and held on for the win to remain undefeated on the season. The win for Ramapo is the first against Kean since 2012.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
McCoy had a game-high 27 points to go along with nine rebounds and five assists. Shahd Badeer finished with a double-double 11 points and 13 rebounds.
