Union, N.J. (12/3/22) – The Kean University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in topping visiting Rutgers-Newark, 101-60 on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
The win marks the first time since 2011 that the Cougars crossed the century mark.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kean (4-3, 2-1 NJAC) steamrolled through the first quarter, jumping out to a commanding 29-9 lead.
The Cougars kept pace over the next 10 minutes and held a comfortable 52-22 advantage at the intermission.
Rutgers-Newark (2-4, 0-2 NJAC) scored almost as many points as Kean (24-22) in the third period, but the Cougars were able to keep the momentum while playing the entire roster in the contest, all 18 players.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Five different players scored in double figures for KU, including two off the bench. Brittany Graff led all Cougars with 16 points while adding six assists. Shahd Badeer finished with a double-double 12 points and 10 rebounds while Shannon McCoy added 10 points, five rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes of action. Macy Seaman poured in 15 points and Natalie Mileski added 12 more in the win for Kean.
Sanaa Brodie led all players with 18 points off the bench for the Scarlet Raiders. Ebony Oden Barnes had a double-double 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
