GLASSBORO, N.J. (11/5/22) – Anne Beckemeyer set a new single game blocks record with 13 as the third seeded Kean University women's volleyball team fell to top seeded Rowan University, 3-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference finals on Saturday afternoon.
Natalie Odgen finished with 18 kills and 11 digs for the Profs who improve to 24-6 overall. Beckemeyer totaled a career-high 16 kills for the Cougars who fall to 18-13 overall.
After dropping a tight first set in which Kean tallied a higher hitting percentage, the Cougars bounced back with a .318 hitting percentage to take set two, 25-18. In that set Beckemeyer and
Ashley Smith notched nine kills on 11 swings and one error.
Rowan rebounded to take the final two sets despite the Profs posting low hitting percentages and a combined 16 errors over both sets.
Taylor Micheaux totaled nine kills, while Smith finished with 18 digs and six kills.
Aubre Adams totaled six kills and
Morgan Hall posted four.
Aspen O'Brien finished with 37 assists, while
Sian Seeger tied a career-high with 25 digs and
Madi DeMartini collected 10 digs.
Beckemeyer breaks the previous record set by Kaitlyn Hansen (9/1/12 vs. Westminster), Loretta Zahn (9/29/95 vs. RIT), Sara Ridgway (11/4/17) and herself (10/19/21 vs. Rutgers-Camden).
