Union, N.J. (11/9/22) – The Kean University women's basketball team lost their season opener to Stevens Institute of Technology, 76-60.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Ducks (1-0) never trailed in the contest and used a 28 point performance from Elissa Nsenkyire to carry them to victory.
Despite not taking the lead at any time during the contest, the Cougars (0-1) kept things close for three quarters.
Stevens started to pull away in the fourth quarter as Nsenkyire's driving layup and subsequent free throw gave the Ducks their first double-digit advantage. She increased the lead after an almost three minute offensive dry spell from both teams with a trey.
The Ducks held their biggest advantage of the day with their final point from the charity stripe with just over a minute to go in the contest.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Shannon McCoy had a team-high 24 points to go along with seven rebounds.
