NJCU Pushes Past Women's Basketball

Union, N.J. (12/10/22) – New Jersey City University pulled away in the fourth quarter to top the Kean University women's basketball team, 66-55, on Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was a see-saw battle and a game of runs as both teams took their largest leads against each other in the second half (Kean by nine, NJCU by 11 (the final).

The Cougars (5-4, 3-2 NJAC) started off the third quarter on a 5-0 run to push out to that largest lead discussed (36-27) with 7:12 to go in the frame.  NJCU (2-6, 2-3 NJAC) responded with their own run, 11 straight, to take the lead back (38-36).

From there it was a nip and tuck affair before the Gothic Knights took the lead for good on a Jada Camacho layup with 7:03 to go.  Jimmirah Johnson widen the gap in the final minutes with six straight points of her own as NJCU held on down the stretch for the win.
