Camden, N.J. (2/12/22) – Shannon McCoy tied for a game-best 17 points as the Kean University women's basketball team powered past Rutgers-Camden, 68-41.
With the win the Cougars secured the top seed in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament. Kean stands with a 15-2 record with one regular season game remaining on Wednesday.
Kean raced out to an early 11-0 lead in the first two and a half minutes as McCoy and Brittany Graff combined for three treys along with a layup from Kayla Anderson. The Cougars kept their foot on the gas and led 25-6 after the first 10 minutes.
In the wire-to-wire win, Kean used 12 players and saw 11 tally points in the contest.
McCoy provided an all-around effort with 17 points, nine rebounds, six steals and five assists. Rookie Macy Seaman was one point shy of a double-double (nine points, 11 rebounds) while Shahd Badeer finished the afternoon with five points and nine rebounds.
Kean hosts William Paterson University on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on senior night.
