MADISON, N.J. (2/15/22) – Duncan Beilke totaled 10 kills, six digs and four block assists as the Kean University men's volleyball team swept Drew University, 3-0 in straight sets on Tuesday evening.
Rajheem Meulens and
Ryan DiCandilo each recorded seven kills for the Cougars who improve to 6-4 overall. Omarf Ortega-Reyes finished with 12 kills and six digs for the Rangers who fall to 3-9 overall.
Beilke tallied four kills in the 25-19 set one victory. The Cougars traded points before using a 9-3 mid set run which pushed their advantage from 9-8 to 18-11.
Beilke recorded another four kills, while
Maxwell Thompson, Meulens and DiCandilo each posted three kills apiece in the set two victory. The Cougars held a 21-17 lead late, before the Rangers went on a 4-1 run to cut the deficit down to 23-22. Kean closed the set with back-to-back kills from
Kevin Molina and Beilke for the 25-23 victory.
The Cougars hit a match high .368, while holding Drew to a -.143 hitting percentage in a dominating set three victory. Kean tallied seven kills on 19 swings and no errors in the 25-13 victory. The Cougars opened with a 15-5 run and didn't look back in their third sweep of the season. Beilke, Meulens, DiCandilo,
D'Andrei Williams and
Stephen Reynolds each posted a kill in the final set.
Thompson and Molina each tallied four kills, while
Zach Noll handed out 26 assists and collected nine digs.
Head Coach
Charlie Ginex and the Cougars will return to action in Dudley, Mass. on Friday, Feb. 18
th, against the Bisons of Nichols College at 7:00 p.m.
