UNION, N.J. (2/3/22) – Duncan Beilke finished with eight kills, six aces, and three digs as the Kean University men's volleyball team captured their third straight victory with a 3-0 sweep of John Jay College on Thursday evening.
Quincy Rooi tallied four kills and two aces for the Cougars who improve to 3-0 overall.
Logan Ramos and
Akashdeep Singh each recorded five kills for the Bloodhounds who remain winless at 0-3 overall.
In set one, Beilke and Rooi both posted two kills apiece as Kean held John Jay to a -.118 hitting percentage in the 25-17 victory. The Cougars opened with a 10-3 run, before stretching their lead to 23-11 late. The Bloodhounds closed with a 6-2 run to make things look more respectable.
In set two, Beilke, Rooi and
Rajheem Meulens all recorded two kills apiece in the 25-19 victory. Kean trailed 4-3 early, before using an 11-4 run to increase their lead to 14-8. The run helped the Cougars maintain a cushion as John Jay could only get within three points.
In set three, Beilke finished with four kills in the 25-15 victory. Kean traded points with the Bloodhounds and held a slim 14-13 advantage, before closing with an 11-2 run to take the set and the match.
Meulens and
Ryan DiCandilo each tallied three kills apiece, while
Maxwell Thompson and
Kevin Molina recorded two kills apiece.
Zach Noll handed out 13 assists and
Cris Naranjo collected four digs.
Head Coach
Charlie Ginex and the Cougars will return to action in Quincy, Mass. on Saturday, Feb. 5
th for a tri-match with Eastern Nazarene College and Emerson College, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
