UNION, N.J. (2/5/22) – Four starters scored in double figures as the Kean University men's basketball team dispatched the College of New Jersey, 98-64 in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon.
Jailen Jamison tallied a season-high 24 points with seven assists, six steals, and four rebounds for the Cougars who improve to 13-7 overall and 8-7 in the NJAC. Danny Bodine totaled 12 points and five rebounds for the Lions who fall to 8-10 overall and 5-10 in the NJAC.
TCNJ opened with a 12-4 run, before Kean answered with an 11-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 15-14 with 11:41 to play. After trading buckets for the next seven minutes, the Lions held a 32-27 advantage with 4:35 remaining. The Cougars responded by closing the half on a 15-4 run for a 42-34 lead at intermission.
Patrick Strzala scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half as Kean and TCNJ both shot north of 50% from the floor.
In the second half, Kean torched the nets at a 69.2% clip to run away with the game. The Cougars opened with a 29-11 run over the first eight minutes to hold a commanding 68-45 lead. Jamison and
Letrell West each tallied eight points during the run. Kean eventually stretched their lead to a 30 point margin before the final buzzer.
West finished with 22 points, six assists, and four rebounds, while
Nate Lyles totaled 11 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
Ethan Stith and
Jeffrey Nolen Jr. each collected five points apiece.
