Galloway, N.J. (2/9/22) – The Kean University women's basketball team made it six in a row by edging host Stockton University, 53-52 on Wednesday evening in conference action.
Brittany Graff was tied for a game-high 15 points as Kean improved to 14-2 in the NJAC and 15-6 overall with two games remaining in the regular season.
It was a nip-and-tuck affair for the entire contest as the teams were evenly matched, with no team taking more than a five point lead at any point. The Ospreys (9-13, 7-9 NJAC) took an early four point lead and led with a slight advantage for a majority of the first quarter. The Cougars then never lost the lead the rest of the way but were not able to push out to more than a five point lead on several occasions.
The game came down to the final seconds as Stockton closed to within one three times in the final minute of action, including their last possession. With just a second on the clock, Madison Larosa was fouled behind the arc, down by three. She sunk the first two, but was unable to tie things up, as the Cougars walked away with the one point victory.
Shannon McCoy ended the night with 13 points, seven rebounds and three steals while Shahd Badeer added a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
The Cougars travel to Rutgers-Camden on Saturday.
