Box Score 2 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (3/11/22) – Sarah Zengel finished 2-for-4 over two games as the Kean University softball team split their final day of their Spring Break Trip against Juniata College and #9 Christopher Newport University on Friday.

Karly Messina, Zengel,
Andee Perseponko and
Melody Caces each tallied a hit as the Cougars (9-2) notched three runs on five hits in the victory over the Eagles (1-2) at Virginia Wesleyan in Virginia Beach.
Kean tallied all three runs in the third as Metz drove in two runs and
Eliza Filus tallied an RBI groundout.
Heather Clevenger remained unbeaten in the circle with seven strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Filus, Messina and Zengel all tallied a hit as the Cougars (9-3) dropped a contest to the nationally-ranked Captains (10-0) at Christopher Newport in Newport News.
CNU notched five runs on nine hits over the first six innings, but Kean kept the Captains offense down.
Despite the loss,
Annabella Marino struck out five batters in a complete game.
Kean finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh when Metz earned an RBI hit by pitch after Messina, Zengel and Perseponko loaded the bases.
Jenn Majorczak had a chance to add more runs, but struck out to end the game.
