UNION, N.J. (3/19/22) – Three Cougars scored two goals apiece as the Kean University men's lacrosse team came up short in a 12-11 loss to Haverford College on Saturday afternoon.
Sean Mowatt-Larssen posted a hat-trick for the Fords who improve to 4-3 overall.
Connor Batjer,
Dante Magliano, and
Tommy Pellegrino each totaled three points on two goals and one assist for the Cougars who fall to 3-1 overall.
Haverford opened with five straight goals before
Hunter Jenkinson put Kean on the scoreboard in the first quarter. The Cougars answered with three straight goals, but Kean still trailed by two early in the second quarter.
Cormac McCabe,
Caleb Loran and Batjer each scored a goal as the Cougars trailed 6-4.
The Fords closed out the half with four unanswered goals for a 10-4 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Magliano and Pellegrino both scored twice as Kean nearly erased an 11-5 deficit. The Cougars closed the game on a 7-2 run, including Pellegrino scoring twice in the final eight minutes to cut the lead to 12-11 with 1:18 remaining.
The Fords played keep away for the final minute to seal the victory.
Anthony Porter finished with three points, while Loran,
Nick Thorne, Jenkinson, McCabe, and
Brady Moore each tallied a point. Batjer added five groundballs, while Magliano,
Nick Moffa,
Kyle Ryder, and
Matt Palmeri all collected three apiece. Moffa went 10-for-25 on faceoffs, while
Vinny Campbell tallied two caused turnovers.
In goal,
Michael Yukas made 14 saves in 60 minutes of work.
