UNION, N.J. (3/23/22) – Brady Moore totaled seven points on six goals and one assist as the Kean University men's lacrosse team earned a 15-10 non-conference victory over Maritime College on Wednesday evening.
Connor Batjer tallied four points on three goals and one assist for the Cougars who improve to 4-1 overall. John Killcommons notched a hat-trick for the Privateers who fall to 2-6 overall.
Moore scored four times in the opening quarter to put Kean in front at 5-1. Batjer and
Anthony Porter each scored and assisted on second quarter goals as the Cougars maintained a 7-2 halftime advantage.
Moore and Batjer each added another goal in the third as Kean held a 9-5 lead entering the fourth. In the final quarter, Kean opened with scores from
Tommy Pellegrino, Moore and
Kyle Ryder for a 12-5 lead with 10:17 remaining.
Maritime would score five times in the final 10 minutes, but goals from
Hunter Jenkinson,
Nick Thorne and Pellegrino kept the Cougars in the driver seat before the final buzzer
At faceoffs,
Nick Moffa went 17-for-26 with 11 groundballs, while
Christian Baucom finished 2-for-3.
Batjer, Porter,
Dante Magliano, and
Ben Martin each tallied three groundballs. Batjer,
Vinny Campbell,
Matt Palmieri and
Tyler Brookes were all credited with a caused turnover.
Thomas Francy made 12 saves in 60 minutes of work.
