MADISON, N.J. (3/2/22) – Brady Moore and
Anthony Porter each tallied a hat-trick as the Kean University men's lacrosse team earned a 14-4 victory over FDU-Florham in their 2022 season opener on Wednesday evening.
Porter finished with six points on three goals and three assists for the Cougars who improve to 1-0 overall.
Zane Johnston recorded three points on two assists and one goal for the Devils who fall to 0-1 overall.
Kean took a 3-0 lead after the first quarter behind a goal and two assists from Porter. The Cougars increased their lead to 5-1 in the second quarter on goals by Moore and
Nick Fischetti.
FDU answered with back-to-back goals before Moore scored his second goal of the quarter to give Kean a 6-3 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter,
Dante Magliano scored and assisted on a goal as the Cougars held an 8-4 lead into the final quarter.
Kean closed the contest with five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter.
Kyle Ryder scored and assisted on a goal, while
Steven Thorne assisted on two goals. Porter and Moore each completed their hat trick's with scores in the fourth. In addition,
Raymond Gorny notched his first career goal with a score with five seconds remaining.
At faceoff,
Nicholas Moffa went 19-for-22 with 12 groundballs. Moffa recorded his 200
th career faceoff victory in the contest.
Joseph McNulty collected six groundballs, while Moore tallied four and both Porter and
Vinny Campbell recorded three apiece.
Tyler Brookes and Moffa each tallied two caused turnovers apiece.
Thomas Francy made 13 saves in goal.
