Reading, Pa. (3/21/22) – The Kean University baseball team exploded for 16 runs on 23 hits to power past host Alvernia University by the final of 16-5 on Monday afternoon in a rescheduled contest.
Michael Lapczynski led the way with four hits, two doubles, four RBI with three runs scored.
The Cougars (14-4) never trailed in the contest and scored in all but one inning. Five players had multi-hit performances as Philip Mahlik was 4-for-5, Josh Jackson was 3-for-5, Gianni Marano was 3-for-5 and Steve Petrosh was 3-for-5.
Kean collected eight extra base hits while Kyle Harrington launched his first homer of the season.
Nolan Rowan (2-0) earned the win after tossing eight innings. He allowed four earned runs, walked four, and struck out four.
Kean hits the road to face St. Joseph's College – Long Island on Wednesday.
