CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (3/23/22) – Eliza Filus finished 3-for-9 with five RBI's, one double and one triple over two games as the Kean University softball team swept a doubleheader with DeSales University on Wednesday afternoon.
Kean 8, DeSales 0 (6 Inn.)
Karly Messina went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI's and a run scored, while
Paige Metz finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Jenn Majorczak went 1-for-3 with two RBI's, while
Gabriella Fredette finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Skylar Hengeveld and
Gianna Pickens both finished 1-for-3 with a run scored.
After scoring single runs in the second and third, the Cougars notched five runs on five hits in the fourth, including a two RBI single for Majorczak and a two RBI double for Messina.
Heather Clevenger tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Kean 10, DeSales 1
Filus went 3-for-5 with five RBI's and a run scored, while Fredette finished 2-for-3 with two RBI's.
Courtney Sherwood went 2-for-4, while
Melody Caces finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Kean tallied 10 runs on 13 hits, before the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard. The Cougars notched five runs in the first two innings, including an RBI double and a two RBI triple for Filus. The junior added another RBI in the fourth, before collecting her final RBI of the afternoon in a three run seventh inning.
Messina tossed a complete game with two strikeouts.
