NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/6/22) – Jenn Majorczak went 4-for-7 with three RBI's, two runs scored, one double and one triple over two games as the Kean University softball team split a doubleheader with PSU-Harrisburg and Lebanon Valley College at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic on Sunday afternoon.
PSU-Harrisburg 6, Kean 5
Majorczak went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored, while
Gabriella Fredette finished 2-for-3 with an RBI as the Cougars (4-2) dropped their opener to the Nittany Lions (1-1).
Fredette opened the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the first. Harrisburg answered with four runs on four hits in the bottom half of the inning. Penn State added two more in the fourth for a 6-1 lead.
Kean rallied in the final two innings with three runs on five hits. Majorczak drove in two RBI's, including an RBI triple, and scored on a wild pitch, while
Gianna Pickens smacked an RBI double as the Cougars shaved the deficit down to 6-5 before the final out.
Annabella Marino struck out three batters in the complete game loss.
Kean 6, Lebanon Valley 4
Melody Caces and Pickens both tallied two hits as the Cougars (5-2) bounced back with a two run decision over the Dutchmen (0-1).
Kean scored two runs in the first with an
Eliza Filus RBI single and a
Sarah Zengel RBI fielder's choice. LVC evened the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two run RBI single.
The Cougars collected two more runs in the second during a strange play where Fredette struck out swinging, but reached first on a wild pitch. Pickens scored on the wild pitch, while
Paige Metz advanced on the wild pitch and scored on a throwing error.
Kean increased their lead to 6-2 with RBI singles from Majorczak and Caces in the sixth and seventh innings.
The Dutchmen were able to get two runs back in the bottom of the seventh, before back-to-back outs ended the game.
Heather Clevenger struck out one batter in the complete game victory.
